ENCOUNTERS 2.0

Walldrawing, Video, Object

Goodyear Gallery, Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania (USA), 2026

Encounters 2.0 is the second exhibition of HB GROUP. The site-specific installation takes as its starting point water, sediments, and microplastics from Conodoguinet Creek and LeTort Spring Run in Carlisle, Pennsylvania (USA). Through drawings, video, handmade paper, and installation, the artists explore the value of water and the often invisible traces of human intervention in the environment.

At the center of the exhibition is a wall drawing made of gold (metal leaf) that traces the path of Conodoguinet Creek. Here, gold becomes a symbol of the inestimable value of water. A historic glass gallon jug with a glass funnel, filled with water from the river, as well as new handmade papers containing sediments and microplastics, complement the installation. The video work Encounters / Aqua combines moving water with the materiality of handmade paper.

The gold wall drawing follows the course of Conodoguinet Creek, transforming the river into a spatial line that reflects on value, movement, and the fragile relationship between humans and nature. Handmade papers containing local sediments and microplastics, together with the video installation Encounters / Aqua and the installation Encounters / Non Potabilis, create a quiet dialogue between visibility and invisibility, permanence and transformation.

The exhibition was created during an artist-in-residence program at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA (USA). It was the first collaboration with a Scientist of the field of Biochemistry and Molecular biology (Dickinson College). Encounters 2.0 brings together artistic and scientific perspectives and reveals what often remains hidden in our waters.
