BOOKSTORE

AKKU, Künstlerbund BW, 2026

With its annual project BUCHLADEN, the Artists’ Association of Baden-Württemberg invites its members to focus on the book as an artistic medium—whether as an artist’s book, a book object, a unique piece, a multiple, a limited edition, or even a catalog. BUCHLADEN is a non-juried members’ exhibition.

The term “book” is deliberately defined broadly. It does not refer to a specific format, but rather to an artistic connection to the book—as freely and individually interpreted. What matters is not the external form, but the conceptual, material, or structural connection to the medium of the book: The theme may be interpreted poetically, politically, formally, experimentally, or narratively. Every artistic voice is welcome.

The BUCHLADEN thrives on the initiative of the Artists’ Association members. Following its presentation at the AKKU Project Space in Stuttgart, the BUCHLADEN will be showcased at additional locations throughout Baden-Württemberg. The existing “assortment” will then be delivered there—the respective “store group” handles all other arrangements on its own.

The BOOKSTORE is designed as an exhibition space where people feel welcome—a place where you can linger, browse, discover, and strike up a conversation.

During the run of the BUCHLADEN at AKKU, from September 26 to October 24, 2026, there will be two additional event days per week featuring the Tea Salon and Beer Salon. With these salons, we aim to establish the BUCHLADEN as a communicative exhibition space: for conversations, activities, music, short presentations, readings—everything related to and about books in the context of art, loosely strung together. Each salon will develop its own unique dynamic—surprising, lively, spontaneous…

I’m excited to be participating with two catalogs and five artist books.
